Deejay, event service opening in Jeffersonville

Company was previously based in New Albany

A New Albany-based deejay and event service company, Sounds Unlimited Productions Llc, will construct and open a new warehouse in Jeffersonville.

The building, proposed near the intersection of Hamburg Pike and Fabricon Boulevard, will serve as the company’s office, meeting space and storage facility.

The company was founded in 1977 and does music, lighting and video at events like weddings, corporate events and political rallies — including those held locally last year for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Brent Rogers, who has co-owned the company since 1996, said the business had previously been run out of homes and cars.

“We feel like we’re ready [to move to something bigger,]” he said.

The new building was discussed Tuesday night at a meeting of the Jeffersonville Board of Zoning Appeals. A zoning variance, which allowed the company to have a smaller-than-required side yard, was approved.

Located in the Jeffersonville Industrial Park, the building will be 7,200 square feet. The exterior will be gray metal with red accents. It’ll have four bay doors for box trucks to load and unload.

Construction plans will be finalized this week. The building will be constructed in 60 to 75 days, said land planner Eric Goodman.

The company has two employees: Rogers and co-owner Chris Hughes.
