Hillary coming to Jeffersonville; Thursday visit will be town-hall style

With one week left until Indiana’s presidential primary, Sen. Hillary Clinton and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright are each scheduled to visit the area, campaign officials say.

Clinton, D-N.Y., is running against Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., for a spot on the November presidential ballot. As of Monday night, Clinton fared better than Obama in a poll that pitted her against Republican nominee-in-waiting Sen. John McCain of Arizona, according to The Associated Press. She had a nine-point lead on McCain, according to the poll.

Clinton is scheduled to visit Jeffersonville on Thursday in a “Standing Up For Jobs” town hall-style meeting, according to a news release from Hoosiers for Hillary. Further details were not released as of publication deadline.

Albright is slated to campaign in New Albany on Clinton’s behalf Wednesday, according to a separate news release from Hoosiers for Hillary. Albright will host a foreign-policy discussion at Indiana University Southeast, then travel to Evansville.

Clinton, along with husband former President Bill Clinton and adult daughter Chelsea, have made multiple visits to Southern Indiana during the race for the Democratic Party nomination. Obama visited New Albany and Jeffersonville in a one-day tour last week. Chelsea Clinton and Obama each made visits to the IUS campus during the campaign.
