The Sen. Hillary Clinton campaign has released details of the Democratic Party presidential hopeful’s Thursday visit to Jeffersonville, and the wife of Clinton’s opponent, Sen. Barack Obama, also is scheduled to visit the city.
Clinton, of New York, who is running against Obama of Illinois, will attend a “Standing Up For Jobs” town hall-style meeting at Jeffersonville High School. Doors open to the public at 2:15 p.m. and the event starts at 4:15 p.m., according to a news release from Hoosiers for Hillary. The school is located at 2315 Allison Lane.
Clinton visited New Albany in March for a “Hoosiers on the Economy” roundtable talk.
Obama held a town-hall event at Indiana University Southeast last week. He also filmed a commercial titled, “Next Door” in Jeffersonville.
The 30-second television spot began airing Tuesday, and discusses Obama’s stand on various issues in Indiana. One of the comments he made is as follows: “All across Indiana and my home state next door, folks know we desperately need change — gas near $4 dollars, jobs leaving, health care you can’t afford.”
Obama’s wife Michelle is scheduled to visit Jeffersonville on Thursday, according to a news release from Obama for America’s Indiana Press Office. Further details have not been given. She has visited other parts of Indiana before.
Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, and adult daughter, Chelsea, have also campaigned in the New Albany area and beyond during the race.
