Foundation gives nearly $200K in scholarships for 2008-09

The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana has awarded scholarships to five high school seniors for the fall.

The scholarships, which are funded through the Paul W. Ogle Foundation Inc., are worth $5,000 per year. They are renewable for eight semesters if the recipient maintains a 2.85 grade point average. The scholarships can be used at any school of the student’s choosing.

So far, the foundation has given $198,542 in scholarships to Southern Indiana high school students for the 2008-09 school year.



Local students who are being honored are:

• William Hambley, of Corydon, plans to attend Georgetown University. He graduated from Lanesville Junior-Senior High School.

• Erin Huckabone, of New Albany, plans to attend Hanover College. She graduated from Christian Academy of Indiana.

• Jesse Wilson, of Sellersburg, plans to attend the University of Louisville. Wilson graduated from Silver Creek High School.

Other winners are:
