Clark County Prosecutor Steve Stewart turned over all evidence Tuesday to Yalanda Parrish’s attorney, Brian Butler.
Parrish had her first pretrial conference Tuesday afternoon, but it lasted only a few minutes.
A grand jury indicted Parrish July 21 for shooting Wesley Mosier Jr. after a June road-rage incident in Jeffersonville. Parrish was charged with aggravated battery, a class B felony, and criminal recklessness, a class C felony. She faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the battery charge.
Her 15-year-old son faces a battery charge in juvenile court. Police accuse him of kicking Mosier.
Stewart said no plea offers have been made to Parrish. The purpose of the hearing, he said, was for the prosecution to turn over all materials related to the case, including witness testimony.
“They now know everything the state knows,” Stewart said.
Butler did not say whether he will file a motion to have the case moved out of Clark County. He said he wants to look over the documents before making any such decisions.
The defense attorney exited the conference room carrying a file a couple of inches wide. He said he anticipates the file “getting thicker.”
The next pretrial conference remains set for Oct. 7 with a jury trial set to begin Nov. 10.
