Two arrested following robbery at New Albany food mart

New Albany, Greenville men charged with dealing controlled substances

Two Louisville men were arrested in connection with a robbery at Swifty Food Mart at Silver and East Spring streets in New Albany.

The robbery occurred at about 2:12 a.m. Wednesday, and the suspects were arrested near the store, according to a press release from the New Albany Police Department.

Jamarcus A. Johnson, 23, faces a preliminary charge of class B felony robbery. Bruce A. Bents, 23, was preliminarily charged with class D felony possession of stolen property.

Police say the charge against Bents is because a stolen handgun that was recovered during the robbery investigation.

The report from the robbery was not finished on Wednesday, but police say more information about the robbery and new information obtained during the investigation will be released today.

Indiana State Police also assisted in the investigation.

The men remain in the Floyd County Jail pending an initial hearing.



Two charged with dealing drugs in New Albany

Two men were arrested for an investigation into dealing the drugs Lortab and hydrocodone.

Jeffrey L. Reynolds, 37, of the 1800 block of Graybrook Lane in New Albany, and Chris Miller, 19, of the 7700 block of Four Leaf in Greenville, were arrested at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The arrest was made by the NAPD’s FLEX unit in a parking lot near the intersection of Grant Line Road and Hausfeldt Lane, according to a press release from the police department.

Both men were preliminarily charged with class B felony dealing in a controlled substance. Reynolds also was charged with class D felony possession of a controlled substance.

The suspects were taken to the Floyd County jail to await an initial hearing.
