Two men were arrested outside a Clarksville motel Monday night on charges of dealing cocaine.

Adrian Porch, 38, of Detroit, and Canon Harper, 33, of Jeffersonville, face multiple felony charges after being stopped in the parking lot of the Bel-Air Motel in Clarksville at 6:39 p.m.

Officers pulled over a 2005 Cadillac which did not have a license plate light, according to the police report from the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.

Porch and Harper were inside the vehicle. Porch had a small bag in his hand, according to the report. He allegedly told officers that he got it out of Harper’s vehicle. Harper allegedly said an ex-girlfriend had left it in his vehicle.

After searching the vehicle, police found: two bags with white powdery substance, two bags with a brown powdery substance, a set of digital scales, a piece of foil, a bag with seven pills, a baggy with a crystal-like substance and two razor blades. The white powder later tested positive for cocaine. The pills were identified as liquid marijuana, a Schedule III controlled substance.

Porch was arrested without incident, but Harper reportedly tried to flee. Harper allegedly struck an officer several times while trying to free himself.

Officers were eventually able to catch Harper and Tase him, causing him to fall to the ground where he was apprehended.

Porch’s girlfriend was staying inside a room at the motel. The motel owner asked her to leave when he found out about the arrests and gave officers consent to search the room. Inside the room, officers found a brown powdery substance and marijuana.

The white powder weighed 50 grams, and the brown powder weighed 33 grams, according to the police report.

Harper was charged with dealing in cocaine over three grams, a class A felony; possession of cocaine over three grams, a class B felony; resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor; battery to police, a class D felony; and maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony.

Porch was charged with dealing in cocaine over three grams, a class A felony; possession of cocaine over three grams, a class B felony; and maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony.

Porch also has an active warrant for cocaine possession in Michigan. Harper is on parole for armed robbery out of Michigan.

Both men are being held in the Michael L. Becher Adult Corrections Complex awaiting their first hearing.
