HALLOWEEN KID TALK

The Tribune asked a group of 4th and 5th graders at Silver Street Elementary School in New Albany various questions about Halloween. Here’s a list of our favorites:

Editor’s Note: Due to school policy, students’ names could not be published.

“A bloody dead punk rocker”

“I’m going to be a vampire that’s really scary, and I’m going to buy those teeth that look real.”

“I want to be bat woman with a leather costume.”

“I want to be anything that will scare my sister.”

“A human-eating monster with a really scary face.”

“A badazzling dead cheerleader.”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HALLOWEEN CANDY?

“Butterfingers and Skittles. They’re heaven to me.”

“Candy corn!”

“Almond Joys and Lemonheads are my favs!”

“I love Sour Patch Kids, but I never see them.”

“I don’t have a favorite — I have two. Jelly beans and Lemonheads.”

“Reeses”

WHO DO YOU LIKE TO GO TRICK OR TREATING WITH?

“Myself, because it’s much better so your parents can’t limit your candy.”

“Dad, because is someone comes after me he would protect me with all his heart.”

“Brother, because he will let me do anything.”

“I like to go trick or treating with my mom and dad because they are really nice, and if I go with my sisters they will boss me around.”

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF A HOUSE WILL HAVE GOOD CANDY?

“If you know them, they usually give you GREAT candy.”

“If they have decorations like skeletons and Halloween lights.”

“If it is big, the people are probably rich. So, most likely I will go there.”

“You’ll see people out smiling and looking in their bags.”

“When they have glowy, blinky things — and things pop out at you and you scream like a little girl.”

WHAT HALLOWEEN CANDY IS GROSS?

“Jelly beans — they taste weird.”

“Ugly black licorice.”

“Squishy eyeballs.”

WHAT IS THE WORST HALLOWEEN COSTUME?

“Princess and fairies. They’re just not boy things.”

“Jason, because I think movie costume are cheesy.”

“Those stupid Hannah Montana costumes.”

“Scream. It freaks me out!!”

WHO GIVE OUT BETTER CANDY?

“Young people. Because they sneak you extra candy.”

“Definitely old people.”

“I think women in their 20s give out the best candy.”

“Women, of course!”

DOES ANYONE ELSE EAT YOUR HALLOWEEN CANDY?

“My dogs eats candy all the time.”

“My mom and dad. But, I really don’t care because they didn’t go trick or treating and I bet they want candy too.”

“Sometimes my mom. A lot my dad.”

“My family, because I like to share.”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HALLOWEEN DECORATION?

“We have this pumpkin that makes noises and scares the crud out of my dog.”

“Fake blood that sticks on your window.”

“At this one house, there is a truck with a dead body in it. That’s my favorite.”

“The really scary fake monsters. They look real and FREAKY!!”

“Spider webs are cool.”

HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU TRICK OR TREAT?

“About three hours.”

“About six.”

“About four to five hours.”

“Five, maybe six.”

“Six or seven.”
