A Georgetown man died Sunday on his property when a tractor overturned onto him, officials say.
Charles H. Daily, 66, of Kelly Avenue, cut down a tree at his residence at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, said Floyd County Coroner Greg Balmer. Daily then tried to drag the tree away with his farm tractor, when it overturned onto him and pinned his body underneath the machine.
Authorities with Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, Georgetown Fire Department, and Yellow Ambulance freed Daily from underneath the tractor. Balmer said the victim died of multiple injuries.
Tractor accidents are not as common as they were in years past, but they still occur every few years, Balmer said.
No further investigation is expected, he said.
