Man gets 11 years in prison in shooting in Floyd County

Two more suspects awaiting trial

A Louisville man was sentenced to 11 years at the Indiana Department of Correction and five years of probation for a 2007 shooting.

Patrick R. Fuller pleaded guilty June 12 to class B felony aggravated battery and class C felony battery resulting in bodily injury. Floyd County Circuit Court Judge J. Terrence Cody accepted the terms of the plea deal at a sentencing hearing Thursday.

Fuller could testify this week against Kristy L. Johnson, of Louisville, at her trial in the same court. Johnson was charged with pointing a loaded firearm at a person, a class D felony, and assisting an aggravated battery, a class B felony, in the same incident that led to charges against Fuller.

The New Albany Police Department accused Jeremy L. Ogan, of Jeffersonville, of shooting Jeremy D. Schneider, 26, one time in the stomach in the rear of Schneider’s residence at 1743 Culbertson Ave. on Sept. 20, 2007.

Police allege that Fuller and Johnson also were involved in the assault. All three were 18 at the time.

Schneider survived the shooting after being transported to University Hospital in Louisville for surgery.

Ogan was charged with class A felony attempted murder and is scheduled for trial July 6. Fuller admitted to the court his involvement in the incident. As part of his plea deal, he must testify against Johnson and Ogan at trial.

In October, Fuller was charged with battery for fighting while in jail. The plea agreement calls for an eight-year prison sentence on that charge, but the sentences will run concurrently, resulting in no additional jail time.
