Car strikes house following accident in New Albany

By CHRIS MORRIS

Nancy Johnson was standing on her back porch at 1018 Sherwood Dr. when she heard a loud noise.

Little did she know a car had just hit her house.

“My husband was in the next room,” she said, pointing to where the car struck the house. “I don’t know how fast she was going.”

The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m., and New Albany Police Department Sgt. Julie Condra said a Chevy Blazer was traveling down Klerner Lane when a Buick LeSabre pulled out of Savannah Drive into its path.

Following the accident, the driver of the LeSabre apparently hit the accelerator and traveled 40 yards before striking the Johnson residence.

The driver of the LeSabre was taken to Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services to be checked out. There were no other injuries.

“No one was hurt, and that’s a good thing,” Johnson said.
