Pioneers roll to first victory of season

The Providence backs score two touchdowns in 56-0 rout

Ethan Cook, Shane Sparks and Dillon Smallwood each scored two touchdowns on the ground and Providence got into the win column in a big way on Friday night, pounding host Mitchell 56-0.

Cook had touchdown runs of 55- and 10-yards in the first half and accumulated 200 yards on 17 carries in the victory. Sparks had scoring runs of 1 and 13 yards and totaled 45 yards on nine carries.

Smallwood added his two scores in the fourth quarter. He scored from 7 and 6 yards out. Steve Burrous and Spencer Corrao each added one TD run apiece for the Pioneers (1-2).

Defensively, Christian Betz had an end-zone interception for Providence, who will host Louisville DeSales on Friday.
