The Clarksville volleyball team had to rally back to pick up a victory in its season debut, taking Games 4 and 5 in a 25-22, 15-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-12 win at South Central on Monday.
“The main thing was that the girls had fun,” said Generals coach Anne Bird in her re-debut as Clarksville mentor. “It’s not a bad way to start a season.”
Clarksville will have its first home match on Wednesday when it hosts Southwestern.
• Embry leads Hornets past Jeff: Carissa Embry shot a 7-over-par 43 to propel host Henryville to a 16-shot victory over Jeffersonville 234-250 at Champions Pointe Golf Club.
Katie Spellman carded a 55 for the Hornets, who moved to 6-5 on the season.
“Carissa played a nice round,” said Henryville coach Robin Embry. “She had three birdies and was just a couple mistakes from being in the 30’s. Katie Spellman continued to play solid. She was a couple of bad bounces and three-putts from ending up in the 40’s.”
Rachel Clemons had a 60 to lead Jeff, while teammate Amber Collins shot a 62.
Henryville will play at Madison on Friday. The Red Devils will travel to Columbus East on Wednesday.
