LETTERS: Jan. 12, 2008

Clarkville reader shows support

I’m writing in response to Mary Zimmerman’s letter regarding the Clarksville Town Hall. She is absolutely correct in her analysis of the proposal. As to Greg Isgrigg supporting it, that comes as no surprise. He has always been one of the “Good Ol’ Boys.” One thing Ms. Zimmerman omitted to mention was the fact that Eastern Boulevard has barely nothing on it anymore except mexican restaurants. The primary shopping area is now Veterans Parkway. I doubt the merchants there would like the idiotic idea.

The wisest thing this town could do to save money is get Dickman off the payroll; he isn’t needed; especially if this is the best he can do!

Editor’s Note: This letter is being rerun due to editing errors in the original.

As a citizen of Clarksville, I attended a meeting of the Clarksville Redevelopment Commission on Jan. 3. Among the items on the agenda was a proposal by Richard Dickman to evaluate the benefits and liabilities of selling the Town Hall and properties which include the Clarksville Community Center and Police Station. A newly reelected town board member, Greg Isgrigg, supported the proposal.

We have a very nice Town Hall in a very nice location within our community, surrounded by a lot of lovely green space with room for a lovely new fire station that is needed. How can we improve on that?

My question to you, the citizens of Clarksville is: “Do you want the officials of the town to pursue this course to sell the present location (of the Community Center and Police Station) and look for a new location such as the old Clarksville Drive-in or an Eastern Boulevard location?”

Regardless of your opinion, please make it known to one of the town board members either by phone or preferably in writing. Clarksville Town Board members are: Paul Kraft, Ray Richert, Don Tetley, David Fisher, Greg Isgrigg and Vicki Appleby.

Thank you and please do something. Make your opinion and voice heard.

— Mary Zimmerman, Clarksville
