12-year-old weighs in on property taxes
Do you like taxes? Who does? Property taxes need to go down. This is important because by 2012 we could become bankrupt as a Country. We want to lower property taxes so this doesn’t happen.
Property taxes have been raised every year since 1980. Property taxes have been raised more than 450 percent. This is because our government keeps voting for it.
We elect officials thinking they will lower property taxes. Unfortunately, they raise property taxes.
We can help to lower property taxes. Such as contacting our congressman and saying that they need to support lowering property taxes. People can speak out! Because it is our right!
Property taxes can take two to three years to get on the ballot. A ballot is part of how we make laws. And, it takes so long because of our voting system. In the government voting system, we must elect officials who help make the laws and they are elected every so many years.
In conclusion, property taxes can be lowered if we take action by contacting our congressman and becoming more involved with our government. And also be electing officials who will hopefully lower property taxes and not just raise them.
