X-Stream Cleanup in Southern Indiana set for May 30

By DANIEL SUDDEATH
Daniel.Suddeath@newsandtribune.com

The nonprofit Living Lands & Waters returns to Southern Indiana this month for the second-annual X-Stream Cleanup of Louisville Watersheds.

Several area organizations are teaming with Living Lands to sponsor the event, which is slated for 9 a.m. to noon May 30. The cleanup will focus on 15 sites along rivers, creeks and streams in Louisville and Clarksville.

Preregistration is encouraged and can be done online at www.livinglandsandwaters.org. Organizers ask that participants wear work clothes and bring refillable water bottles. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Living Lands is an Illinois-based organization dedicated to cleaning major rivers around the country. The group estimates it has removed more than 5 million pounds of garbage from shorelines in the Mississippi, Ohio, Illinois, Potomac, Missouri, Wisconsin, Cedar and Anacostia rivers.
