New Albany couple arrested for dealing cocaine, pot

A drug purchase involving a police informant on Grant Line Road in New Albany led to the arrest of three suspects Tuesday.

Christopher D. Farnsley, 26, of Lanesville, was arrested for dealing cocaine and marijuana, and his girlfriend Nicole R. Smith, 24, of Depauw, was arrested for conspiracy to deal cocaine and marijuana.

Michael J. Thompson, 26, of Georgetown was arrested for visiting a common nuisance.

The Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section set up a drug buy involving a confidential informant, according to a police report. Farnsley met with the informant and sold him a small amount of cocaine and marijuana at the Taco Bell on Grant Line Road, the report states. After the buy, he was arrested by a uniformed officer.

During a search of the suspect, marked money and marijuana were seized, along with additional evidence pertaining to drug dealing. Farnsley is also known to stay in hotels in Clarksville, according to the report.

Farnsley and Smith are being held in the Floyd County Jail awaiting their first court appearance. Thompson was released on bond.

Farnsley faces up to 106 years in prison if convicted on all charges. Smith faces up to 109.

Farnsley was charged with:

• Dealing in cocaine more than 3 grams, a class A felony

• Dealing in marijuana more than 30 grams, a class a misdemeanor

• Possession of cocaine more than 3 grams with intent to deliver, a class A felony

• Possession of marijuana less than 30 grams with intent to deliver, a class A misdemeanor

• Maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony

Smith was charged with:

• Conspiracy to deal cocaine within 1,000 feet of a housing complex, a class A felony

• Conspiracy to deal marijuana less than 30 grams, a class A misdemeanor

• Possession of cocaine with intent to deliver more than 3 grams, a class A felony

• Possession of marijuana less than 30 grams, a class A misdemeanor

• Visiting a common nuisance, a class B misdemeanor
