Charlestown man charged with dealing Oxycontin

NAPD arrested suspect on State Street

A Charlestown man was arrested Monday morning in New Albany for allegedly dealing Oxycontin, according to a press release by New Albany Police Department Capt. Keith Whitlow.

David J. Matt, 23, was charged with class B felony dealing a schedule II controlled substance. He was arrested on the 2100 block of State Street by the NAPD’s FLEX Unit, which handles narcotics investigations.

Matt told police he is from the 100 block of Audubon Court in Charlestown.

Floyd County Superior Court No. 3 Judge Maria Granger set bond at $10,000 court-cash or surety. A public defender was appointed at his initial hearing Tuesday.

A preliminary not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. A jury trial was scheduled for Feb. 15.
