FLOYD'S MOST WANTED: Police tracking down fugitives

By MATT THACKER
Matt.Thacker@newsandtribune.com

Several people on Floyd County’s Most Wanted list have been arrested in the past two months, but police are still looking for two more suspects.

Herbie Tarrance, wanted on charges of class B felony burglary and class D felony theft, was arrested in late June when U.S. Marshals teamed up with local law enforcement agencies to round up violent offenders and clear warrants.

James Douglas Wright Jr., wanted on three class C felony burglary charges, class D felony theft, resisting law enforcement, operating while intoxicated and a habitual offender charge, was arrested July 17 after the SWAT team surrounded him in a car in Clarksville.

Garland Miller Sr., 54, of New Albany, was arrested July 1 for theft and fraud, both class D felonies.

Police are still looking for Curtis L. Brown Jr. for class B felony armed robbery.

Brown, 36, allegedly robbed Tumbleweed Restaurant along Charlestown Road of nearly $5,000 in August 2003, according to a probable-cause affidavit. The document also claims he threatened a female employee with bodily harm while showing a firearm. His last known address was 3426 Grant St. in Louisville. He is listed as black with black hair and brown eyes. He is about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 207 pounds.

Sonny C. Tweedy is wanted on charges of battery resulting in bodily injury, a B felony.

Tweedy, 36, is listed as white with brown hair and brown eyes. He is about 6-feet tall and 200 pounds.

Anyone with information on these suspects is asked to call the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department at 948-5400.
