Don Wheeler
Don Wheeler, 76; of Borden
A memorial services for Don Wheeler, 76, of Borden, will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg. He died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Norton Hospital in Louisville after a courageous battle with heart disease.
He was born in 1932 in Ohio. He and his wife Wanda owned and operated many successful businesses there. They later expanded their successes to Louisville and Indiana where he resided with his family.
The venture he enjoyed most was turning a cow pasture into an 18 hole golf course along with a thoroughbred training facility complete with dirt and turf track. He served on the Borden Water District board of Directors.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Wheeler; daughters, Sissy Smith, Borden, Dawn Harpree, Madison, Pam Charles, Bellit, Wis. and Scarlet Johnson, New Albany; a sister, Betty Geiz, Dayton, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and several special friends
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
