Claude E. Peters, 83; WWII Army veteran
Funeral services for Claude E. Peters, 83, of Jeffersonville, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, at Scott Funeral Home’s North Chapel, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Tell City, a retired carpenter, a devoted family man and past president of the Jeffersonville Optimist Club. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish since 1959 and an Army veteran of World War II. He was the 10th in his family and a “10” in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Mary R. Gootee Peters; children, Kenneth Peters and wife, Leigh Ann, Steven Peters and wife, Sharon and Harriet Rutledge and husband, Mike; sisters, Hettie Dauby and husband, Edward and Anna Goffinet; sister-in-law, Ethel Peters; grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua and Gregory Rutledge, Katrina and Angelina Peters, Jamie Heller, Amy Eras, and Cherie Edelmann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward B. and Harriet Peters; four brothers and three sisters, Victor Peters, Chauncey and Irene Peters, Omer Peters, Edward and Irene Peters, Agnes Peters, Sister Feleciana Peters, and Sister Bonaventure Peters.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, May 6.
