Dallas Arnold Schimmerhorn, 69; Korean War veteran
Dallas Arnold Schimmerhorn, 69, of Jeffersonville, died April 30, 2008, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Louisville. The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born in Charlestown, a retired carpenter for the Carpenters Union Local 1225 in Houston, Texas. He attended Jesus Name Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Schimmerhorn; five children, Sherry Benjamin, Jeffersonville, Sheila Hill, Rock Hill, S.C., Michael Schimmerhorn, Beaumont, Texas, Teresa Vega, Gatesville, Texas and Troy Schimmerhorn, Huntsville, Texas; a brother, Doug Schimmerhorn, Phoenix; a sister, B.J. Hall, Phoenix; 10 grandchildren, Jamie New, Shawn Gibson, Tessa Andrews, Erica Benjamin, Tommy Hensley, Caz Schimmerhorn, Adrianna Schimmerhorn, Lacressa Schimmerhorn, Kayla Schimmerhorn and Dallas Schimmerhorn; and five great-grandchildren, Eric New Jr., Ashley New, Brook Andrews, Kendalh Andrews and Taylor Andrews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Marshal Schimmerhorn and Lida (Fields) Schimmerhorn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contribution be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at Scott Funeral Home’s North Chapel.
