Alice Kathryn DeLamater DuChane, 78; of Floyds Knobs
Funeral services for Alice Kathryn DeLamater DuChane, 78, of Floyds Knobs, will be at noon Saturday, May 10, at Generations Funeral Home, New Albany. She died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at her residence with her family at her side.
She was an accomplished singer, dancer, musician and radio talk show host. Most of all she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was retired from the U.S. Census Bureau where she received numerous awards and recognition for her leadership initiatives. She was active in the American Cat Fanciers Association and the Sacred Cat of Burma Association. She was a member of St. Marks United Church of Christ in New Albany. She was born July 11, 1929 to the late Percy V. and Mildred P. Haskell DeLamater in Norwalk, Ohio.
Survivors include her children, Dr. Janeen DuChane, Chicago, Louis H. DuChane III and wife, Brenda, Goshen, Ky., Kimberly K. Cibulka, R.N., and husband, John, Georgetown, and David K. DuChane and wife, Julie, Floyds Knobs; grandchildren, Robin Osborne and husband, Mikel, Chrissy and Carson DuChane, all from Floyds Knobs, David Key, Baltimore, and Theresa Devine and husband, Clay, Buckner, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Shelby Scanlon and Madilyne Devine; and a sister, Miriam Klotz, Corydon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. DuChane, and a brother, Paul F. DeLamater.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 10.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hosparus-the Hospice community of Southern Indiana or the American Cancer Society.
