Joseph ‘Joe’ Thomas Traughber, 78; of New Albany

A funeral Mass for Joseph “Joe” Thomas Traughber, 78, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. He died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

He was retired from E.I. DuPont Co. in Louisville. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany. He was born on Feb. 24, 1930, in New Albany to the late Richard and Janie Traughber.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Barksdale Traughber; nine children, Tom and wife, Suzi, Robert and wife, Vickie, David and wife, Elizabeth, Danny and wife, Rosalou, Jeff and wife, Sandy, Patty Umbreit and husband, Edward, Marianne Gatlin and husband, Danny, Barbara Morris and husband, Chris, Kelly Wilkinson and husband, Stephen; father-in-law, Robert Barksdale; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Missi; four sisters and a brother.

Visitation at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, May 11, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Mass of the Air.
