Charles C Dunn, 87; of Clarksville
Funeral services with military honors for Charles C Dunn, 87, of Clarksville, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 14, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, with private entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Sunday May 11, 2008 at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was a Christian and faithful member of First Southern Baptist Church, Clarksville. He was born Aug. 18, 1920 to Clarence M. Dunn and Lula Belle Reed Dunn in Springfield, Ill. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941, serving as First Class Water Tender, V-6, aboard the USS Savannah. He survived a German air attack in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945. He retired from Colgate Palmolive Company in 1977 as a first class electrician after 42 years of service. He was known to co-workers and numerous friends as “Mousey Dunn.” For many years, he was active in Gideon’s International, served as a mentor and teacher of youth, contributed many hours of skilled labor to projects at his church and delighted family and friends with his infectious sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ada Robinson Dunn; a daughter, Janet Werle and husband, Richard, Sellersburg; two sons, Stephen Dunn and wife, Claudia of Louisville and Barry Dunn and wife, Jayne of Hoschton, Ga.; six grandchildren, Jason Werle and wife, Dena, Rachel Duggan and husband, Brian, Christopher Dunn and wife, Barbara, Jennifer Dunn and Jay and Kyle Dunn; sister, Joyce Dunn Clasen of Clarksville; seven great-grandchildren; four nieces; and one nephew.
Visitation at the funeral home was Tuesday evening and after 10 a.m. this morning.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to First Southern Baptist Church, Clarksville or Phi Beta Psi Sorority State Scholarship Fund c/o Theta Iota Chapter.
