Eleanor ‘Ellie’ Lewis, 84; of New Albany
Funeral services for Eleanor “Ellie” Lewis, 84, of New Albany, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home, Richmond, with private entombment in Earlham Cemetery. She died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at the Bennett House, New Albany.
She was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Richmond, to the late Paul and Pearl Bryant Caldwell. She and her late husband, Ira Allen Lewis, co-owned a restaurant in Richmond for many years.
Survivors include her daughters, Bobbi Bickers and her husband, Mark, of Floyds Knobs, and Diana Ward and her husband, Randy, of Alburquerque, N.M.; brother, Paul Caldwell, Jr.; sister, Theresa Lakes; grandchildren, Lori Mahaffie, Kori Wiwi, Chris Mull, Ashley Clements, Lolita Smith, Tina Farmer, Phil Austin, Heather Davis, Jonathan Bickers, and Mark Bickers; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughter, Nancy Ellen Clements; grandchildren, Jack Ward and Savannah Mull; and three sisters and a brother.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Bennett House, 3928 Horne Ave., New Albany, or Hosparus Hospice of Southern Indiana, 624 East Market St., New Albany.
Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, is in charge of local arrangements.
