Leon L. Wehmiller, 78; of Crothersville
Funeral services for Leon L. Wehmiller, 78, of Crothersville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery. He died Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1929, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Herman and Wilma Goecker Wehmiller.
He graduated from Tampico High School in 1947, a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Austin, where he was very active serving in every church office including former president of the congregation, served two terms on the Crothersville School Corporation School Board 1972-1976 and 1992-1996.
He loved his family and friends very deeply, and enjoyed gathering for many years at the BMW reunions. He worked for Cummins Engine Company starting on Jan. 2, 1963 and retiring on March 31, 1987 where he worked as a tool crib attendant.
On Oct. 2, 1948, he married Benale Rider Wehmiller who survives in Crothers-ville.
Survivors include his wife, Benale Rider Wehmiller, married Oct. 2, 1948; a daughter, Sandy Brumett and husband, Darrell, Morrow, Ohio; a son, Benjie Wehmiller and his wife, Jane, New Albany; four grandchildren, Kyle Brumett and wife, Steffanie, Defiance, Ohio, Cole Brumett and wife, Carrie, Jeffersonville, Jenise Wehmiller, New Albany and Brett Wehmiller, New Albany; a great grandson, Leon Maxwell Brumett, Defiance, Ohio; two brothers, Marlin Wehmiller and wife, Martha, Seymour and Willis Wehmiller and wife, Rosanna, Seymour; and a sister, Mary Lou Cremeens, Crothersville.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Daryl Wehmiller.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 8, and after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
