Martha Mary Andres Striegel, 91; of Floyds Knobs
A funeral Mass for Martha Mary Andres Striegel, 91, of Floyds Knobs, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Providence Retirement Home, New Albany, with her family by her side.
She worked for 15 years in the cafeteria of Floyd Central High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in Floyds Knobs.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Receveur Andres, and was born June 2, 1917, in Floyds Knobs.
Survivors include her children, Marvin Striegel and wife, Beverly, Tony Striegel and wife, Janice, all of New Albany, Shirley Harbison and husband, Bob, Robert Striegel and wife, Rena, and Barbara Ann Vance, all of Floyds Knobs, Christine Baumann, New Albany, Jeanette Hayden and husband, Joe, and Debbie Page and husband, Steve, all of Corydon; son-in-law, John Peay, Floyds Knobs; daughter-in-law, Elise Striegel, New Albany; brother, Paul Andres and wife, Helen, Floyds Knobs; sister, Gladys Koetter and husband, Bob, Floyds Knobs; 38 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Aloysius L. “Al” Striegel; children, Rosemary Peay, Tommy Lee Striegel and Marty Striegel; brothers, Carl, Anthony and Ambrose Andres; and sisters, Alma Striegel and Irma Bodenstadt.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18, at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Friday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church in her memory.
