Arch C. Plue Jr., 84; World War II veteran
Funeral services for Arch C. Plue Jr., 84, of New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the Paul F. Kraft Sr. Memorial Chapel at Generations Funeral Home in New Albany, with burial to follow at Mount Tabor Cemetery. He died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at his residence.
He retired after 30 years from International Harvester and was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, serving in the 10th Mountain Division. He was a member of the VFW Hobart Beach Post 1693 in New Albany, the American Legion Sellersburg Post 204, the Southern Indiana Antique Engine Club, and a member of Scottsville Christian Church in Floyds Knobs.
He was born on May 4, 1924, in Elizabeth, Ind., to the late Arch and Jessie (Knear) Plue.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Mildred (Jacques) Plue; daughter, Laura Brown and her husband Greg, Charlestown; sisters, Mary Threlkel and her husband, Royce, Galena, and Helen Sturgeon, Clarksville.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Vernie Eisert and Opal Jones; brothers, Morris, James, and Curtis Plue.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, at the funeral home.
