Steven K. Ehalt, 52; New Albany native
Funeral services for Steven K. Ehalt, 52, of Charlestown, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New Albany, with burial in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. He died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at his home.
He was a native of New Albany and a graduate of Purdue University Pharmacy School. He worked as a pharmacist at the old Taylor Drugs and Rite-Aid. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Sellersburg, SCRIPS Pharmacy Association and Fall City Purdue Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Karen Downs; two daughters, Allison R. and Lauren E. Ehalt; and a brother, Robert J. Ehalt.
Visitation Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring St., New Albany, will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. Paul’s Catholic Church or Providence High School girls basketball and swimming.
James D. Rissler, 74; Korean Conflict veteran
Graveside services for James D. Rissler, 74, of Clarksville, will be at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany. He died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 22, 1931, to the late Gilbert R. and Grenada Briner Rissler. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later served in the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army. After this he continued to serve his country in the Indiana National Guard and as a reservist.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6582, American Legion Post 204, Veterans of the Vietnam War Inc., Veterans Coalition, and the Free and Accepted Masons.
Survivors include a sister, Joyce Rissler Wozniak, Carmel; two daughters; and many nieces and nephews and their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Elsie Jane Lopp Rissler; two sisters, Virginia Russell and Patricia Moye; and a brother, Raymond Rissler.
Visitation at Seabrook, Dieckmann and Naville Funeral Home, 1846 E. Oak St., New Albany, will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 12. Cremation will follow the visitation.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the family in care of the funeral home.
Robert ‘Bob’ Webb, 84; Army veteran
Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Webb, 84, of Charlestown, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Old Salem Cemetery. He went to meet his Heavenly Father on Friday, Sept. 8, 2006, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was a proud employee of Ford Motor Truck Plant for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a avid gardener.
Survivors include is loving wife of 57 years and caregiver, Marie Susan “Sue” Webb; two sons, John K. Webb and wife, Helen and Mark A. Webb; six grandchildren, Todd, Michael, Johnna, Matthew, Kimble and Luke; six great-grandchildren, Layne, Becca, Courtney, Valerie, Wyatt and Conner; three brothers, Thomas, Hilbert and Marion; and six sisters, Jane, Barbara, Ellen, Cathy, Beth and Marie.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Michael “Mike” Webb; his parents, Jim and Ollie Webb; a brother, James; and a sister, Ella.
The family wished to thank Clark Memorial Hospital and staff, Floyd Memorial Hospital and staff, VistaCare of Jeffersonville and all family and friends who visited him and kept him in their thoughts and prayers.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 9 p.m. today, Saturday, Sept. 9 and after 9 a.m. Sunday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Old Salem Cemetery Association.

Aulyne F. Southard, 94; of Georgetown
Funeral services for Aulyne F. Southard, 94, of Georgetown, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, with burial in Wolfe Cemetery near Georgetown. She died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
She was born in New Albany on Dec. 17, 1911, the daughter of Austin and Edna Thompson Hough. She was a homemaker and she was Baptist by faith.
She is survived by a son, Billy Southard and his wife, Carole, Georgetown; a daughter, Virginia Morman, Jeffersonville; seven grandchildren, David Southard and his wife, Carol, Jeffrey Southard, Craig Dome, Todd Dome and his wife, Melanie, Jeffrey Morman and his wife, Debra, Teresa Gruneisen and her husband, Richard Stethen and John Morman and his wife, Melissa; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10 and after 9 a.m. Monday.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
HARRISON COUNTY
Elizabeth E. Bierly, 90; of Elizabeth
Funeral services for Elizabeth E. Bierly, 90, of Elizabeth, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Elizabeth, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at her home with her family at her side,
She was born on April 20, 1916, the daughter of Arthur and Ola Elizabeth Steepleton Evans. She was the postmistress at Elizabeth during World War II and was the office manager at Steepletons Billiards in Louisville. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Elizabeth.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol Shaffer, Corydon, Rose Ann Brown and husband, Bill, Elizabeth and Fredica Dones and husband, Don, Elizabeth; a sister, Cleo Collins, Louisville; eight grandchildren, Cara Hedden and husband, Larry, Corydon, Keith Brown and wife, Diane, New Albany, Donald Dones and wife, Tammie, Mooresville, Joe Dones and wife, Karen, Georgetown, Mary Day, Leopold, Carla Johnson and husband, Bob, Dr. Richard Brown and wife, Becky and Jim Brown, all of Elizabeth; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith H. Bierly; and a great-grandson, Brian Keith Brown.
Visitation at the Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Corydon will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, Sept. 9, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday.
The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the St. Peter’s Cemetery Fund and to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Ora Maye Embry Smith, 85; of Ramsey
Funeral services for Ora Maye Embry Smith, 85, of Ramsey, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at Swarens Funeral Home, Ramsey, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. She died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at Indian Creek Health and Rehab Center, Corydon.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 8 a.m. Monday.
MORGAN COUNTY
Graham Eugene Same, 82; World War II veteran and former Clarksville Police Officer
Graham Eugene Same, 82, of Mooresville, Ind., native of Jeffersonville, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, of liver cancer and C.O.P.D. in the home of his daughter, Rhea Austin, in Mooresville.
As a teenager he joined the Marines and Seabees serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Returning home from the war, he joined the Clarksville Police Department. He was later appointed a Deputy U.S. Marshall in Indianapolis. In 1962, the U.S. Marshalls were ordered to integrate the University of Mississippi at Oxford where he was shot and gravely wounded by a sniper. He was later decorated by Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy for his heroic actions. He retired from the Marshalls’ service as Chief Deputy after serving 20 years.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Gary and Rhea Austin and Bob and Marsha Denike; two grandchildren, Krysten Same and Michael Same; and two great-grandchildren, Haylee and Aubree.
He chose to donate his body to the Anatomical Education Program of the Indiana University School of Medicine.
