Alda Jean Cecil, 76; Georgetown resident

Funeral services for Alda Jean Cecil, 76, of Georgetown, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Georgetown, with burial to follow in Edwardsville Cemetery. She died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

She was born in Georgetown on July 26, 1932, the daughter of Carl and Sally Scott Coakley. She was a lifelong resident of Floyd County. She was a secretary for the former Robert Dean Public Accounting Firm in Georgetown and was a member of Edwardsville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Cecil; sons, Rusty Cecil and his wife Donna, Georgetown, and Scott Cecil and his wife Diane, New Albany; one daughter, Holli Hayes, Georgetown; one brother, Leroy “Pete” Coakley, Marengo; five grandchildren, Tara Young, Bowling Green, Jennifer Cecil and Blake Cecil, both of New Albany, Maggie Hayes, College Park, Md., and Mary Hayes, Georgetown; and three great-grandsons.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Edwardsville United Methodist Church Building Fund.
