Gwendolyn Esarey, 88; former New Albany resident
Funeral services for Gwendolyn Esarey, 88, will be at 11 a.m. CST., at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, with burial to follow in Walker Cemetery in Branchville, Ind. She died Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.
She was born in Branchville on April 30, 1920, to the late Edward and Jeannette (Kaiser) Pollard. She was married on Oct. 23, 1942, to James M. Esarey. She retired in 1985 from Floyd Memorial Hospital where she worked as a nurse’s aide. She enjoyed working in her flower garden.
Survivors include her children, Bettye Griffin, Pekin, Rita Seelye, Elizabeth, Paul D. Esarey, New Albany, and Judith Akers, New Albany; sisters, Geneva Daugherty, Fort Wayne and Juanita Anderson, Jacksonville; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Esarey; two sons, Ralph and Marcus Esarey; and brothers, James and Randall Pollard.
Visitation will be today, Sunday, Oct. 5, from noon to 6 p.m. CST. and Monday at 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
