Isgrigg offers his perspective

Bob Isgrigg does not want to spend any Clark County money on fixing Ms. Ross’ private lot. Ms. Ross was paid by her builder in a legal settlement, $12,500 to fix her lot and house. Two experts hired by Ms. Ross clearly identified the drainage problem in their reports and explained to her how to fix the drainage in her backyard. Instead of spending this money, she asked Commissioner Mike Moore to spend Clark County money to fix her private lot.
Commissioner Mike Moore proposes to spend on a no-bid contract $52,500 of our public money to fix a very small drainage problem. Bob Isgrigg acquired three bids, for comparison, on the exact same plans proposed by Commissioner Moore. The lowest bid was $9,000. The obvious discrepancy with Commissioner Moore’s $52,500 is self-evident.
Commissioner Moore’s statement in this article is dysfunctional nonsense. Ms. Ross’ builder would not have bought this lot with a big mud hole in the backyard, There were no drainage problems on these lots until the builder built three houses in a row here and trapped water in the backyards, even though there is four to six feet of drop from the backyard to the street.
Ms. Ross has rejected an offer from a nearby lot owner to help her fix her lot at no expense, but she refuses to even discuss this with this gentleman. Ms. Ross had a political sign for Moore’s brother in her yard this Spring. Mike Moore’s actions here are simply a political favor for Ms. Ross at the expense of Clark County citizens and taxpayers.

West Clark Community School Board Meeting

Here we go again! Everything is in place and ready to move on, to the construction contract documents phase, for the “Early Childhood Center” on Old State Road 60 in Hamburg and along comes a new school board member, Joe Basham, wanting to spend an estimated cost of between $30,000 to $35,000 to see if this may be a mistake.
Where was Joe when all this was being negotiated?
That would have been the time to be on the agenda and ask questions. I am not sure but I “think” the ground on 403 that is being talked about is not much bigger then this in Hamburg. This property in Hamburg adjoins Ivy Tech and there are a lot of acres there.
Why would we, taxpayers, want the school board to — as Joe puts it — trade with the developer on 403 who is offering to sell the land and then we have to spend additional money for new studies, etc.? Did Mr. Basham talk to the developer before making his statement that was in The Evening News?
Earlier when the school board was looking for property I wondered about the Hamburg property but we can’t put all our schools in one little “bundle". With the new subdivisions out in this area, off Ind. 311 and Highway 60, etc., wouldn’t it be better to have a school in this area?
I would like to know how many acres the developer has on 403, who he is and why he would want this out here.
Let’s face it, we messed up when we did not consolidate years ago but we have to live with what we have now. So let’s move on. Don’t get elected for an office and then start tearing things apart. Your job is to make things better from this day forth.
