Bills signed into law Wednesday by Gov. Daniels

• House Bill 1275 — The bill defines “actual cost” relative to how much a government can charge for copies of public documents. Under the new law, charges can not exceed actual cost of producing a copy. That means only the cost of paper and the per-page cost for using of copying equipment can be factored in. Labor and overhead costs can not be used. The bill is of local interest because Clarksville passed a copy-fee ordinance last year that includes the price of labor. There, copies of public documents are 25 cents per page.

• Senate Bill 219 — The bill provides support for lactation in the workplace, including privacy and a refrigerator or other cold storage for keeping breast milk.

• Senate Bill 133 — The bill provides a cost-of-living adjustment for those using the Public Employee Retirement Fund. It also provides that the pension portion of the monthly benefit may not be less than $180, among other items.

• House Bill 1077 — The bill removes the limit on the amount a township, city, town or county may appropriate to certain veterans’ organizations to aid in Memorial Day expenses.

• House Bill 1046 — The bill establishes an apprentice hunting license that allows an individual to hunt when accompanied by a hunter who is at least 18 years old. It provides that an apprentice hunter is not required to take the hunter-education course and may not obtain more than three apprentice licenses in the individual’s lifetime.
