Bills recently signed into law by Gov. Mitch Daniels

Bills recently signed into law by Gov. Mitch Daniels

• House Bill 1219 — The bill makes many changes relating to what can be counted as deductible income when calculating unemployment benefits. For example, compensation made through a contract connected to a layoff or plant closure is removed from such remuneration.

• House Bill 1220 — The bill requires the Commission on State Tax and Financing Policy to study state and local funding alternatives for the South Shore West Lake extension.

• House Bill 1249 — The bill provides a tuition exemption for Purple Heart recipients who served after Sept. 10, 2001.

• House Bill 1293 — The bill makes changes related to the sales disclosure form process for real estate transactions. It also allows for filing of statements to claim the homestead credit and property-tax deductions any time during a calendar year with respect to real property. And it allows a county auditor to reduce the assessed value used to set tax rates to take into account deductions resulting from applications filed late in the year, among other changes.
