GCCS to host meetings with candidate

Stephen Daeschner believed to be the choice

The finalist for the superintendent position at Greater Clark County Schools will meet with students, staff and the public in three separate meetings Tuesday.

The candidate is widely believed to be Stephen Daeschner, a veteran superintendent, currently with a Chicago-area school system and former head of Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville. Daeschner met earlier this week with Jeffersonville Mayor Tom Galligan, three school board members and several influential people in the community.

The meeting with the candidate that is open to the general public will be from 6:45 to 8 p.m. at St. Stephen Church, 2701 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville.

Selected students from Jeffersonville, Charlestown and New Washington high schools will get to meet the candidate — who Greater Clark has yet to identify — from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. earlier that day at New Washington High School.

Greater Clark staff can meet the candidate from 5 to 6:15 p.m. at Charlestown High School, 1 Pirate Place, Charlestown.
