Greater Clark County Schools announces meeting, press conference

School board to discuss personnel matters Wednesday morning

Greater Clark County Schools has announced that the school board will meet Wednesday morning and host a press conference later that afternoon, one day after the board hears input on its final superintendent candidate, Stephen Daeschner.

At 6:45 p.m. today, the public will get to meet Daeschner at St. Stephen Church, 2701 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville.

The board will meet in a public session at 8 a.m. Wednesday to discuss “personnel” matters. That meeting will be at the auxiliary services building, at 2710 E. 10th St., Jeffersonville. At 5 p.m. that day, the board is having a press conference to discuss the superintendent position.

Robbie Valentine — board vice president and head of the superintendent search committee — said he cannot comment on Daeschner being the lone finalist, since a contract is still being negotiated.

If selected, Daeschner, superintendent of Indian Prairie Community Unit School District in Aurora, Ill., would replace Travis Haire, who is serving as interim superintendent.

Haire was selected after Tony Bennett resigned from the post once he was elected Superintendent of Public Instruction.
