IUS BASKETBALL: Grenadiers narrowly fall to No. 2 Georgetown

The Indiana University Southeast men’s basketball team hung tough, but ultimately fell to NAIA Division I No. 2 Georgetown College at the Activities Building on Tuesday night.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Grenadiers (12-8).

Carlos Mitchell scored 14 points to lead IU Southeast, while teammate Alex Gravelle added 13 in the loss. Former New Albany star Craig Bryant scored eight points for the Grenadiers, while his ex-Bulldog teammate Derick Hobbs delivered seven.

Priot to Tuesday, the Grenadiers had not lost in 2008, last tasting defeat at the hands of IUPUI in Indianapolis on Dec. 23. The Grenadiers will travel to Berea on Saturday.

• Grenadier women take down Spalding: IU Southeast got 19 points from junior Andrea Chambers to pick up a 70-52 win over visiting Spalding University.

With the victory, the Grenadiers (10-9) moved above .500 for the first time since they began the season 1-0. It was their third win in the past four games.

Chambers also led IU Southeast with six rebounds, while teammate Lauren Brim tallied points in the victory.

The Grenadiers will host Campbellsville on Saturday at the Activities Building.
