Silver Creek junior Jack Eckert wound up ninth in the pole vault with a height of 15 feet.

Floyd Central senior Ryan Lowery finished 13th in the 110 hurdles (14.83) and 21st in the high jump (6-2). Fellow Highlander senior Logan Eberle was 13th in the 400 (49.34).

Floyd’s 3,200 relay team of Nick Spencer, Cory Portwood, Garrett Blackman and Sam Mires placed 22nd in 8:13.66 while the Highlanders finished 25th overall in the 1,600 relay.

Charlestown senior Justin Baxtron competed in a pair of sprint races. He finished 22nd in the 100 preliminaries (11.13) and failed to make the 200 finals.

Borden sophomore Hunter Williams placed 19th in the 1,600 (4:34.84), while New Albany sophomore Brett Wehmiller was 21st in the high jump (6-2).

The IHSAA will host the 2009 girls’ state finals on Saturday with field events slated to begin at 3 p.m.
