HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Jeff hosts regional tourney

Jeffersonville will serve as a host site this week for the 2008 National High School Baseball Tournament at Don Poole Field.

Seven teams from Indiana, Kentucky and Tennesee will compete in the tournament, which will extend through Sunday.

Pool play for games will be today, Thursday and Friday — with a single-elimination tournament scheduled to begin on Saturday and the finals being played on Sunday.

Tournament teams are comprised of varsity members of each respective school.

“This is not for AAU teams or travel teams,” said Jeffersonville coach Al Rabe. “The teams that you see playing will be the teams from each school. It should be a good event — it’s certainly something different than what we normally do.”
