Floyd Central High School graduate Dallas Sims has landed on the mound in a new league — the Frontier League.

Sims, who just completed his collegiate career at Lee University in Tennessee, recently signed on as a member of the Windy City Thunderbolts.

The Frontier League is an Independent Baseball League was founded in 1992 and currently is home to 12 professional teams in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana.

The league serves as an audition of sorts for Major League teams looking for prospects who went undrafted and have not signed with any squad’s minor league organization.

Players in the league can have their contracts sold to major league teams at any point and become a part of those organizations.

Sims signed with WIndy City on June 7. In two outings through Monday, he has posted a record of 1-0 with an earned run average of 3.00 in six total innings.

In his final season at Lee, Sims posted a 10-1 mark and an earned run average of 3.15 as he helped guide the Flames to within one win of claiming the NAIA World Series title.
